The Visuals
Today is all about the videography…
The Official Music Video
Easter Eggs!
Many overlook it, but there’s a hidden scene at the end of the music video. I love sneaking in easter eggs in almost everything I create, especially my music videos. This one drops a clue about the title of my next song release.
Dang, That was COLD!!
The Easter eggs might be hidden, but you know what wasn’t? How freezing I was during this shoot! That water was ice cold! But hey, it’s all worth it for the sake of art, right?
Fortunately, my trusty sidekick (and amazing boyfriend) was on hand with a space heater between takes, allowing me to stay submerged. You might think it would be better to get out in between takes, but it was actually more bearable to stay in the water for most of the 8-hour shoot. The only thing worse than sitting in cold water is warming up, then having to get back in!
The Making Of
I’ve always enjoyed getting a glimpse behind the scenes of my favorite artists' music videos, so I thought you might enjoy a peek behind the curtain of mine! The dichotomy between dark and light has been a part of my music since the beginning. Bringing this visual identity to life in video form has been a dream come true.
A Continuity Error
You might notice my dress changes color between the music video on YouTube and the "Making of" video. Here’s why: A few days after filming, I got a call from our beloved videographer letting me know an extremely rare digital glitch had corrupted half of our footage. I was devastated, but we quickly organized a re-shoot.
Seeing the bright side, we used it as an opportunity to try new creative ideas. I ended up loving the white dress in the white water more than the original look. Plus, I found an important easter egg—a book called "The Last Basselope"—that was missing from the first shoot. Though it’s not clear in the video because its hidden on a shelf in the background, it holds special meaning for me because it reminds me of a cherished memory with my father. The lesson? Setbacks can lead to unexpected opportunities.
Stay tuned!
There’s more to come! I’ll see you tomorrow with with a deep dive into the album art!
