We faced down a hurricane and bribed a security guard to make this video happen…

I’m all about involving listeners in the creative process! Sometimes that includes choosing the cover art for a new song.
I usually do a voting process for email subscribers first, then social media. You get one vote for each thing you’re a part of. So if you’re on my email list and also follow me on Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok, that’s 4 votes in your favor!
Below you will find 3 images. The first and second rounds of cover art we voted on, and the image that became the cover art you see on Spotify today.
The Cover Art
When presented with this image, cover art A won by a few votes, but a lot of listeners said they preferred the body position of image A, but the background of image B, and were curious to see what that would look like. That idea sparked the creation of the next image.
It seemed people really wanted to see what image B here would look like, so we created it and did a second round of votes. Since image A won the first round we included it in the second round as a contender.
The winning cover art
I’m a sucker for campy horror films…
This video series was designed to feel like you are a participating character on FaceTime with another character (me).
“Starlight” is about facing scary truths, and wrestling with your inner demons so we felt compelled to introduce a demon character (revealed in the secret end scene after the credits at the end of the Starlight Music Video.) We needed someone to play the role so I roped my childhood best friend Lynzi into playing our beloved demon. The character made us laugh so much that we gave it its own spin off video series, and you’re about to be part of it!
